SUMMARY:Les Vespérales #16: Olivier St-Pierre and Yves Charuest – un tuyal\, des tuyaux...

SUMMARY:Les Vespérales #14 : Nuit blanche 2026 (Annie Bloch // Earth World Collaborative // Secondsight // André Pappathomas)
DESCRIPTION:Les Vespérales de l’orgue du Sacré-Cœur presents the “Ambient Organ Night.” Immerse yourself in a full sensory experience with an evening of ambient and experimental music for pipe organ and electronics at the église du Sacré-Cœur-de-Jésus. \nPresented as part of Nuit blanche à Montréal 2026\, in collaboration with Suoni per il popolo and the Canadian International Organ Competition\, with the support of the Goethe-Institut and Festival MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE. \nTickets \nFree admission (voluntary contribution/suggested donation of $15)\nReservations suggested \nSchedule: \n8:30 p.m. – Doors open\n9 p.m. – André Pappathomas (and guests)\n10 p.m. – Annie Bloch (luvt)\n11 p.m. – Earth World Collaborative (Real and Imagined Spaces\, Vol. 2)\n12 a.m. – Secondsight\n1 a.m. – André Pappathomas (and guests) \n\nAnnie Bloch\n“luvt” \nWith „luvt“\, organist and songwriter Annie Bloch (Cologne\, GER) presents a project that is dedicated to the sound realm of the chest organ. Limiting herself to just three stops of wooden pipes\, Annie Bloch zooms into the details within the sound. “luvt” – derived from the German „luven” = “to turn to the wind” – takes us into a new imaginary space and shows a facet of the pipe organ that can be both powerful and delicate. Annie Bloch combines a precise use of the mechanical stop manipulation with electronic manipulation\, aiming for a wholesome musical experience. Thereby\, “luvt” lifts the chest organ out of its traditional context and opens a door to a new sensory and emotional experience of the organ. \nThe album “luvt” will be released on OOH-sounds (Florence\, Italy) in fall 2026. \n—- \n \nAnnie Bloch is an organist\, composer and songwriter based in Cologne\, Germany. As an organist she performs solo and in alternating ensemble configurations\, mainly working within improvisation. In her composed improvisations Annie Bloch explores states of change. Searching for the ambivalences in a sound and lingering on them\, her music resists singular truths. The musical material she draws from is informed by her engagement with the experimental music scene\, but also by compositional styles of pop and ambient music. \nIn 2025 she released her chamber-orchestral pop album “I DEPEND” via Papercup Records (GER). Together with Emily Wittbrodt (cello)\, she realized „The Mendelssohn-Project“ of recompositions and improvisations based on Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s organ works for organ and cello\, that was released on sts|sts records in 2025. \nhttp://anniebloch.com/\nPhoto: Helga Articus \n\n \nEarth World Collaborative\n“Real and Imagined Spaces\, Vol. 2” \nEarth World Collaborative (featuring organists and composers Joel Peters and Adrian Foster and singer-songwriter Naghmeh Shafiei) explores the deep resonances of the pipe organ through sound transformations using dynamic wind and live electronic sound processing\, with excerpts from their recent projects and new works. The result is an immersive sonic experience that blurs the boundary between the real and imagined worlds. \nEarth World Collaborative is a creative force generating new works of music\, art\, film\, and literature through collaboration. Founded in 2018 by composers and organists Joel Peters and Adrian Foster\, Earth World’s activities are centred on immersive story concerts\, which integrate electronics\, original compositions\, projection\, lighting\, and special effects. \nwww.earthworldcollaborative.com\nPhoto: Brandon Patitucci \n\n \nSecondsight \nHajia Maa (Secondsight) is a multidisciplinary creative\, singer\, and a meditation teacher. In her current artistic universe\, she mostly explores music\, wellness\, and fashion\, intertwining meditative chant\, experimental soul\, and ambient soundscapes\, sometimes accompanied by guided breathwork\, along with a perspective on clothing in which garments are seen as wearable art and a ritual of care for the body and spirit. Her performances invite deep listening\, rest\, and embodied spiritual intimacy. \nPhoto: Vladim Vilain \n\n \nAndré Pappathomas \nAn interdisciplinary artist\, André Pappathomas developed and invested his work as a composer and stage director as a choir director. As director of the Mruta Mertsi Vocal Ensemble\, he has conceived and produced a large number of creations linked to other artistic disciplines: visual arts\, theater\, literature and dance (over 40 choreographers and performers have collaborated on the numerous editions of Choeur et chorégraphes). At the same time\, he explored with choristers a method of controlled improvisation and discovered an unsuspected potential in this form of musical expression.\n\nSoprano\, Virginie MongeauPercussion and bells\, Olivier MarandaSoprano saxophone\, Marie-Claude de Chevigny Organ\, Daniel LerouxInvented string instruments and electric bass\, André Pappathomas\n\n\n\nPhoto : Brandon Patitucci

SUMMARY:Les Vespérales #12 – John Kameel Farah
DESCRIPTION:Tickets: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/festival-flux-john-kameel-farah-tickets-1685849995719\n\nRenowned for performances that weave together the ornate counterpoint of Baroque masters with the fluid improvisations of Arabic classical music\, Palestinian-Canadian composer/improvisor John Kameel Farah is one of the most compelling contemporary artists on the scene today. For Flux 2026\, he’ll create a cathedral of keyboards in the transcendent acoustics of Église Sacré-Coeur-de-Jésus\, Montréal.\n\nDrawing on centuries of Arab maqam traditions and the spiritual architecture of J. S. Bach\, Farah’s music is steeped in heritage\, yet constantly opening outward\, embracing electronic soundscapes and experimental textures. It moves fluidly between the church organ\, piano\, and vintage analog synthesizers\, crafting an intricate sonic architecture. Improvisations are launched as contrapuntal meditations\, spiral into hypnotic electronic loops\, or blossom into expansive\, maqam-inspired melodies.\n\nFarah’s journey has brought him from concert halls to underground clubs\, from Jerusalem to Berlin\, from fugues to feedback. In 2023\, he shared the stage with the legendary Tangerine Dream\, paying homage to the cosmic lineage of electronic music. Yet at the heart of his artistry remains a profound devotion to heritage: the meeting of Baroque rigor and Arabic improvisatory freedom\, refracted through the lens of his Palestinian roots.\n\nIn this intimate performance\, Farah transforms keyboards into vessels of memory and imagination – ships bearing heritage and memory on a sonic voyage.\n\nDoors 7:30 PM\, NOTAFLOF—En co-diffusion avec Innovations en concert et Arts in the Margins.\n\nInnovations en concert tient à remercier le Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec\, le Conseil des arts du Canada\, le Conseil des arts de Montréal et la Fondation SOCAN pour leur soutien.

SUMMARY:Les Vespérales #11 – Vent perdu (Sound Rebellion Collective)
DESCRIPTION:Tickets: PWYC (Flexible pricing or free admission): https://www.zeffy.com/ticketing/les-vesperales-de-lorgue-du-sacre-coeur-featuring-sound-rebellion-collective \nSound Rebellion Collective is interested in the ephemeral\, whether in the echoic depths of sacred places or in the properties of sound. Composed of three organists and an electronic musician who weave their sounds together in “sonic events\,” the collective’s approach involves multi-organ improvisations in large acoustical spaces. In their performances\, they respond musically to the architecture and site-specific artworks and allow these to interact with the sounds of the organs and live electronic transformations. Sound Rebellion explores the full range of sonic possibilities of both fixed and transportable instruments\, and their performance at Les Vespérales will integrate the 1928 Casavant organ\, the new LIMINARE experimental organ\, as well as the reed organs and other instruments found throughout the Sacré-Cœur-de-Jésus. \nOrgans: Elisabeth Hubmann\, Giulio Tosti\, Adrian Foster \nElectronics: Michele Del Prete \nPresented by Les Vespérales de l’orgue du Sacré-Cœur in collaboration with Suoni per il popolo and the Canadian International Organ Competition\, with the support of the Office franco-québécois pour la jeunesse.
